What’s your “WHY” ?

We all know we need to eat right and exercise.  I haven’t met anyone who’s said they need to eat more fast food and spend more time on the couch.  If you’re not currently working out and focusing on your health, my question is WHY NOT?  I also like asking people who do workout and focus on their health why they choose to do so.

 

Why Not?

One of the biggest reasons why people don’t workout is that they don’t have enough time….or so they say.  I recently listened to Arnold Schwarzenegger give a speech that broke down the 24 hours in a day, I’ll summarize that here:

24 Hours in a day

9 hours of work

1 hour of commute

6-8 hours of sleep

Your’e now left with 6-8 hours each day to spend with your family and WORK ON YOURSELF.  You can see pretty quickly that if you organize your day that you’ll have time, even if it’s 45 minutes, to work on your fitness.  Do it for yourself, your family, for your kids, or do it just to do it.  Just get moving.  The beauty of CrossFit is that we keep it to 1 hour per class.  We know everyone is busy so we offer the highest level of service in fitness in a 1 hour daily package.

 

Why?

I love asking people why they drag themselves to the gym on a daily or weekly basis.  I’ve heard people say things like, “I want to look better” , “I’m doing this so I can be around for a long time” , “I’m doing this so I can be there for my kids” , “My family has health issues and I want to be proactive”, and everything else in between.  Whatever your reason is, I assure you it’s a good one.  I know it’s tough waking up early and getting to the gym and it’s tough to work all day and get to the gym in the evenings.  Even if you didn’t do as well in a workout as you would’ve liked, you still made it and you still put in work.  Any day you make it in to the gym is a step in the right direction.

My challenge to you is to just get moving.  Set your gym clothes out on your dresser the night before so you can make it to the gym in the morning or bring your clothes with you to work so you can come to an evening class.  Bottom line, take some time and work on yourself.  You’ll thank yourself for it 🙂
